As a long time lurker that rarely posts anything, I must say that's the funniest thing I've read in awhile.

Thanks charlie. Given our handles, I feel like we're connected in some way. When I created my account, of course Cosmic Charlie was already taken, and then I come to find out that there was a longtime poster cosmicharlie that went many years back. At the time I was really into the 60's GD studio albums. Funny thing is, the only version of Cosmic Charlie I like is the studio version. Oh well... in my next life maybe I'll try "creepy alligator".

Anyway, nice to meet you in this strange part of the world.

Pleased to meet you. I chose the handle only because Mr. Charlie and Cosmic Charlie were already taken. Most of my friends through the years have taken to call me Mr. Charles (to my shagrin) so a variation of Mr. Charlie would be more representative of how I'm known. I selected the latter because of my utter dislike of being called Mister anything and I always thought the song had a sweet little melody. As for live versions of the tune, I would suggest checking out
http://www.archive.org/details/gd1969-01-25.sbd.kaplan.2245.sbeok.shnf
Which is more representative of what was done on AoxomoxoA
or http://www.archive.org/details/gd68-10-08.sbd.belaff.17691.sbeok.shnf . The second selection is the first live version (during one of the Hartbeat shows) and you can hear what Jer was really going after. As for the attempts to resurrect the tune in 76, you can just leave those where they are.

Thanks for the 2 version recs... I like the Hartbeats version with the extra guitar distortion; Jerry really "owns it" on that one.
